If you look at the words powerless and empower, they share a common root, the term power. As defined by Dictionary.com, power means, “Ability to do or act; capability of doing or accomplishing something.” It is a wonderful capacity to come from a place of power but, think about it, just by adding a couple of letters in either a suffix or prefix, you can move from a hopeless situation to a hopeful one. Going from despair to possibility, with such a small change, if it were only that easy in the midst of hardship. Or, is it?
The path to feeling empowered is about gaining mind over matter; this really is most of the battle. And, the path to feeling powerless is all about you playing the blame game, two options but one takes courage, which path is yours?
Think of you as being the root between the suffix “less” and prefix “em”, you are the power. And, you’ve had it all along, from the very beginning when God granted you life on this great earth.
So if you’ve given your power away to the suffix “less” somewhere between then and now it is time to embrace 2 small letters to fix your situation, add the prefix “em” to your life and empower yourself.
Pick this moment and as Gandhi said, “Be the change you want to see.” To rise from feeling powerless to empowered; stop fighting the circumstances in which you stand because your mind is in the world of what should be while your body suffers your surroundings. It is good you do not like these ugly circumstances but denying what you’ve created isn’t going to change anything, it will only make it worse. So, write down every excuse you can think of for the hardship you are enduring and then burn it. Enough with the excuses, enough with blame, look in the mirror and empower yourself by saying, “I have made some unhealthy choices and these have not served me well. Today, I choose a healthier path for me because I am worthy of it.” And, instead of blaming someone for the next obstacle, educate yourself to overcome by embracing whatever this challenge is teaching you.
