Two single day music festivals highlight this week in Orlando music

This coming week, April 7-13, is another packed week of great shows this week in Orlando local music. This Saturday, along with every Saturday this month, is so crammed with special shows, it would be nice to be able to figure out a way to be in ten places at once.

On Thursday, Orlando band The Groove Orient releases their debut EP “Welcome to the Show” with a show at The Haven. Also on the bill are Shak Nasti and RJ Harman & Company.

Friday at The Haven is the demo release show for Orlando area band Stereo-Type. Sharing the bill with them are Sunshine & Bullets, Abortion Twins, Brothers Of Alien Rock and Apollo Electric.

On Saturday is WJRR’s Earthday Birthday 21 at Central Florida Fairgrounds and Expositions Park. There are quite a few national headliners at this show topped off by Orlando based Mark Tremonti’s band Alter Bridge. The rest of the Orlando bands in the lineup include Gorillafight, The Crazy Carls, Maybe If You Hit It, W.E.R.M., Traverser, SoulSwitch, Blaine The Mono (acoustic) and Leaving Haven (acoustic). Also on Saturday is the Deland Rock and Metal Festival Spring 2014. Yes, it’s not Orlando, but there are several Orlando bands playing the music festival along with bands from all over Florida. The Orlando bands in the lineup are Cover the Sun, Absolon, The Bride Wore Blood, 10,000 Hours, Abdomen Canvas, Thicket, Entombed in the Abyss and Monotheist.

Monday, April 7

Will’s Pub - 1042 N. Mills Ave. - Live music from Abigail Williams, Ovid’s Withering, Dzovatis and Infinite Earths for this 18+ show. Tickets are $8-10.

The Beacham - 46 N. Orange Ave. - Live music from The Wonder Years, Fireworks, Real Friends and Modern Baseball for this 12+ show. Tickets are $16.50 - $20.00 and the doors open at 6 p.m.

The Haven - 6700 Aloma Ave. - Firestone ENT & Society ENT presents Hip Hop Mondays with Silas Dior, Hosted and Music by Drop, Wizzle Nation, Blaza (Manager Firestone Ent), Trench Coat Deviants, Big Cash, Raw Reeze and Secret Guest for this show. The doors open at 8:30 p.m. and tickets are $10.

Tuesday, April 8

The Red Lion Pub - 3784 Howell Branch Road - Twisted Tuesday with We’re All Gonna Die for this 18+ show. This FREE event includes live music and other entertainment as well as a home-cooked meal, with a $2 donation to the Red Lion Community Emergency Fund. The live music starts at 7:30 p.m.

Bombshell’s Tavern - 5405 Edgewater Dr. - Live music from Michael Angelo Batio performing a History of Rock Tribute with special guest Sons of Ragnar and Dakota Black for this all ages show. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. The doors open at 7 p.m. and as always FREE parking.

Credo event - 1300 Brookhaven Dr. - The Spring Edition of Local Bands and Brews featuring live music from Kyle Cox (full band), Jackson & Forest Rodgers and Lauris Vidal for this special 21+ event.
