Two School Board member's homes raided

The home of Sweetwater School Board Member Pearl Quinones and Bertha Lopez in Bonita was raided by county investigators, Tuesday morning, according to NBC San Diego news.  The home of a former Seville Construction Services executive Henry Amigable was also raided.

Investigators did not say what they were looking for, but were mostly searching in the garage of Quinones home on 3009 East Sixth Street in National City.  They took items from the home of Amigable on Fairfield Street and also from Lopez's home on Galveston Way.  None of the above were arrested.

Pearl Quinones ran for California State Assembly in the 79th district and has been a Sweetwater Union High School District board member since 2000 according to her Facebook page.  Quinones is a dropout prevention specialist and has worked on a comprehensive health and wellness police for students and staff.   She was also presented with a congressional award from Congressman Bob Filner, according to the schoolboards website.

According to San Diego Rostra, Bertha Lopez who is a member of the board of directors of the Sweetwater Union High School District, and wife of Otay Water Board Member Jose Lopez, was issued a temporary retraining order back in 1993 for "allegedly stalking a man that claimed the two were having a relationship."  The document shows she was ordered to stay 100 feet away from his residence and the schools where he was employed. “The case was dismissed with out prejudice.”

In January 2011, Charlene Lemons-Shivers, who was director of alternative education, filed a lawsuit claiming she suffered "undue scrutiny from Lopez for reporting unapproved overtime for an employee," according to Signon San Diego.  Lopez said she was doing her due diligence as a board member.  The Judge ruled in favor of Lopez and dismissed the case.

The Sweetwater Union High School District was in the news last spring when Voice of San Diego revealed that Superintendent Jesus Gandara, was using his school district credit card to pick up the tab, largely for meals with board members.  You can read more about it here.
