Two reasons why you should not eat red meat

There's more to it than animal cruelty. Photo.

Food for thought:

Red meat is high in saturated fat and cholesterol. Research has shown that foods that contain fat, regardless of whether the fat is saturated or unsaturated in nature, contribute to plaque buildup in the arteries.  Diets that are void of visible fats – about 10% fat – have been shown not only to halt the progression of heart disease, but to reverse it, as well.

If you don't put fat into your body, it can't wind up as plaque in your arteries!

Red meat increases cancer risk significantly.  Red meat contains both toxic compounds and heme protein, both of which damage the lining of the cells of the digestive tract. The consumption of red meat is strongly correlated with high incidence of colon cancer and pancreatic cancer, and the regular consumption of red meat more than doubles the risk of some cancers. I can't provide the source, but I have read that consuming even a small amount of beef (2-3 ounces) on a daily basis has been shown to raise the risk of cancer significantly. In addition, red meat has been associated with chronic inflammation.

Plant-based foods do not contribute to plaque, and they do not promote cancer. Rather, they heal the insults of daily living.
