Perfect games by Levanial Hinson and Bill Magruder, and 299 games by Tim McDonald and John Hoppe are the top performances in this weekend's report from bowling centers in the Sarasota-Manatee-Charlotte County area.

Hinson, now carrying a 200 average in the Bob Anderson Plumbing Mixed League at Sarasota Lanes, opened with a 172 score before unloading 12 consecutive strikes in Game 2 of Thursday night's session and finishing with a 163 for a 635 series. The perfecto came just over two years after Hinson pounded out a 300 game at Sarasota Lanes on May 31, 2012.

Competing in the Monday Elite program at AMF Venice Lanes, Bill Magruder rolled his first-ever perfect game, and John Hoppe connected for a 299 game.

McDonald was taking part in a pre-bowled series for the Thursday Night Mixed League at Bowland Port Charlotte, and it was his first appearance in that league. He opened with games of 221 and 196 before starting Game 3 with 11 straight strikes, but his bid for perfection was denied when a high hit resulted in a final-ball 6-pin and the 299 score.

On the distaff side, Janet Romig pounded out a 700 series that included a 257 game in the Thursday Night Mixed League at AMF Venice.
