The weather is getting warm and there is much to do outside, but don’t forget the live, original performing arts that are happening all around you this weekend. Two Colorado dance companies are premiering new evenings of work this weekend, with two very different themes. So after you’ve biked that mountain, conquered the hiking trails or meditated in the prairie, get yourself to the theatre!
Point Your Damn Toes Dance Company presents “Welcome To The Mad House,” a full-length dance performance held at The Dickens Opera House in Longmont, Colorado. The premise of this show explores the complexity of sex and trauma, as it takes place in a brothel, where one longs for a different life situation.
Under the Artistic Direction of Julia Kay, PYDT utilizes 19 women of all ages, ranging from 25- 64. In their second season, “Welcome To The Mad House” is full of high energy dancing, special guest performers and choreographers, live singing, audience interaction and more
Only playing for one weekend, be sure to get your tickets fast before they sell out. But, remember folks, this is for mature audiences.

Opening in Denver this weekend and performing for two weekends is the Denver based dance company Louder Than Words Dancetheatre, under the Artistic Direction of Chris Harris. Collaborating with Jefferey Nytch and exploring the essential nature of moving air with the premiere of “Breath”.
With a large cast of dancers, original costumes by Annabel Reader and lighting design by Lacey Erb the performance centers around the “physical, chemical and spiritual side of respiration, in beautiful and compelling ways.” Music accompanies the piece live by Playground Ensemble.
