With less than 5 weeks away until WrestleMania 29, the WWE is starting to put together the undercard for their biggest PPV of the year. As seen on Monday's episode of RAW, and last week's SmackDown, the WWE appears to be in favor of a 6 man tag-team match with The Shield vs. Orton, Sheamus and The Big Show. According to a March 5th report by WrestlingInc.com, a potential showdown of behemoths between Mark Henry and Ryback is also rumored to be a possible undercard match for WM 29 in addition to the 6 man tag match.
At the end of the March 4th episode of RAW, The Shield attacked The Big Show. This stemmed from an encounter on last week's episode of SmackDown where The Shield came out and interfered in a match that involved Sheamus, Orton and The Big Show. Over the last decade, the WWE has become notorious for creating matches with 6 or more wrestlers in to get more of their stars on the WrestleMania PPV. However, this match actually makes sense especially with the longstanding feud of The Shield vs. Orton and Sheamus.
As for Henry vs. Ryback, the WWE teased an encounter last night on RAW as Ryback was heading back to the locker room and crossed paths with Mark Henry who was coming out for his match against Zack Ryder. Ryback had just defeated Cesaro and the two men stopped, stared at each other and went their separate ways. Most of the WWE Universe had been wondering what the WWE had planned for Ryback at WM 29. It appears that this could be what's in store. Surprisingly, I actually like this potential match. I was a big fan of Henry's world title run and I think he could get Ryback over at WM 29. I'll have more analysis on this later.
Matches already confirmed for WM 29 are:
- John Cena vs. The Rock
- CM Punk vs. The Undertaker
- HHH vs. Brock Lesnar (still yet to be solidified on TV but confirmed by reports)
