Missoni is all about innovation and I think we can say this is a fashion first: three generations of a family receiving Honorary Doctorate degrees from Academy of Art University", said Angela Missoni. "My mother, Rosita, received her degree over a decade ago, and Margherita and I are so proud to join her and the other honorary recipients of degrees from this prestigious institution."

The award ceremony will take place at the Academy of Art University annual student fashion show on May 8, 2014 at 7 pm at 2225 Jerrold Avenue in San Francisco.

Tickets are free to the public on a first come, first serve basis.

Missoni, founded in 1953 by Ottavio and Rosita Missoni, is hugely popular in the United States and worldwide. When they partnered with Target in 2011 to offer a limited edition low-price designer collection, demand crashed Target’s website multiple times and the entire collection was sold out within days.

The Academy of Art University is the nation’s largest accredited private art and design university. Established in 1929, the school offers accredited AA, BA, BFA, MA, MFA, and M.Arch degree programs in a variety of art and design fields.
