Manchester police officers arrested two people on warrants Tuesday for their roles in the melee in Manchester, which occurred Sunday and involved about 30 people, according to a Wednesday, March 5, 2014 press release by Manchester Police.
Police said, Hector Velez Sr., 47, of 269 Central Street, Manchester and Darius Weekly, 20, of 219 Notre Dame Avenue, Manchester are both charged with the felony, Riot. Weekly is also charged with the felony, Second Degree Assault.
The release stated that the Manchester Police Detective Division issued two additional arrest warrants as a result of the riot, which occurred in the area of 141 Laurel Street. Investigators have determined that Hector Velez Sr. and Darius Weekly were both part of the fracas.
Velez, Sr. allegedly took part in the incident when he arrived on Laurel Street with his son Hector Velez Jr. (who was also arrested Sunday) and other subjects to “settle a dispute” between his son and David Weekly, the brother of Darius Weekly.
During the brawl, Darius Weekly allegedly struck another individual with a stick, causing an injury to the victim. The victim, Brian Colon, of Manchester, refused medical treatment on the scene.
Darius Weekly and Hector Velez Sr. both turned themselves in to Manchester Police Tuesday night and were booked without incident.
