Two men were killed by gunfire on an east side street Friday morning. The DPD had to call in extra units this morning to control a gathering crowd, which police said had become unruly.

The double homicide occurred shortly after 10:00 a.m. this morning in the 5900 block of Seneca, near I-94 and Gratiot. Police received a ‘shots fired’ call at 10:24 a.m.

One victim was dead at the scene. The other man was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police working the scene, a blue Chevrolet sedan riddled with bullet holes, gathered a rough description of the perpetrators. They were two men, both considered to be armed and dangerous.

One suspect is a black male in his twenties, about 160 lbs, and wearing a distinctive goatee. The other is a black man who wore an orange jacket.

About 80 civilians gathered near the crime scene, and not all were mourners. Some were drinking and combative, and the DPD had to call in extra units to control them. None were arrested, however.

Anyone with information on the shooting should call Detroit Police homicide at (313) 596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at (800) SPEAK UP.
