Two men accused of catching, killing cats near Cincinnati

Associated Press

Two men face misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty in Clermont County for allegedly killing more than half a dozen cats.

Goshen Township Police and the Clermont County Humane Society says they first began investigating the accusations against the men when they got tips that cats were being killed near Country Lake Apartments in Goshen Township, which is about 30 miles east of Cincinnati.

21 year old Keegan Carney of Wayne Township faces four counts of animal cruelty and 23 year old James Combs of Maineville faces three counts of animal cruelty and three counts of discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises.

An investigation determined that in late March or early April, Combs allegedly shot one cat at Country Lake Apartments and two cats near the Goshen Kroger using a .22 caliber rifle. Meanwhile, Carney is accused of trapping four cats from the area of the Melon Ridge Nursing Home and taken them to his home, where he allegedly killed them.

The two were arrested on April 6th after witnesses saw them set cat traps at the Country Lake Apartments and called the Goshen Township Police.

The two will face a Clermont County Municipal Court judge later this month.
