Two killed in head-on collision after driver crosses over into wrong lane

A man and a woman were killed Tuesday morning in a head-on collision after the man traveled into the opposite lane on Dawsonville Highway in north Forsyth County.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the cause of the deadly wreck. And so far, officials have not released the names of the two people involved.

The deadly two-vehicle collision happened at 8:51 a.m., according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said a white 1994 BMW being driven by a 42-year-old man was heading east on Dawsonville Highway when the vehicle traveled into the westbound lane, striking a red 1991 Honda Civic head-on.

The driver of the Honda Civic was a 29-year-old Forsyth County woman, the sheriff’s spokesperson Deputy Courtney B. Spriggs said.

“The drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene,” Deputy Spriggs said. “There were no passengers in either vehicle.”

The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin, Deputy Spriggs said.
