The more I get to know the lesser-known areas of Italy the more I fall in love with some of their beautiful grapes. Ribolla Gialla is one of those under the radar gems that pairs so well with food. My dear friend Tiziana Costamagna of importer Un Po Pazzo brings this wine into California. Perusini is a beautiful producer and this wine has a great acid profile and subtle fruit that makes it delicious on its own and with food.
Another one of my favorites, and not very commonly seen Italian wines, is Pecorino. It hails from the central Italian region of Abruzzo. Marramiero, another wine imported by Un Po Pazzo, is also a lovely fruit-forward wine with ribbons of vibrant acidity. One place to find both these wines in San Francisco is Entoteca Vino Nostro.
