The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is offering two geldings for adoption, for free, to a good approved home. Both horses were taken from a neglectful situation in Dallas back in July and are now vital, healthy, alert and at the proper weight.
The horses have been under veterinary care since they were removed from the neglectful home in the 2200 block of Elliott Road.
One horse is a 5-year-old bay Thoroughbred who has a 20 percent immobility in his right front leg caused by an earlier injury. The second horse is a chestnut of unknown breeding who is around seven or eight years old. Both horses are well behaved geldings.
Sheriff’s office arrested Raymond Merle Wilson II, 70, of Dallas for animal neglect. Wilson had previously been arrested in 2006 for a similar crime.
Adopting homes will undergo a routine background check before ownership of the horses is transferred. Those interested in the horses are asked to contact Deputy John Kincaid at 503-623-9251.
