The PA-44 Piper Seminole that was reported missing overnight has been located according to the Vilas Sheriff's Department. The Sheriff's department is confirming that the airplane did crash and that there were two fatalities in the crash.
FAA spokesperson Elizabeth Cory stated the airplane was located approximately 5 miles north of Minocqua.
The airplane, N570ER, departed Aurora Municipal Airport (KARR) in Illinois 6:22 p.m. and was heading to Lakeland/Lee Field Airport (KARV) in Minocqua, Wi. The plane was scheduled to land around 8:00 p.m.
The Sheriff's department was assisted in the search by the Civil Air Patrol, rangers from the Department of Natural Resources as well as Lac du Flambeau Tribal Police.
