Two dead dogs left on the Whitestown CSX railroad tracks were discovered on Tuesday by a railroad worker. Their owner, Sam Abbott from Utica was notified by a Whitestown Police officer. Abbott is heartbroken; his dogs were just like his children.
According to wktv.com, Abbott had reported his dogs missing almost two weeks ago. Signs and placards were posted around the community and at the wktv website dedicated to lost and found pets.
"One was on one side of the tracks; the other was about 100 yards down on the other side of the tracks and they had both been shot, said Abbott. "I collapsed. I couldn't breathe. They're like my children."
The dogs had been shot in the head and then left at the tracks. Both dogs were pit bull and German shepherd mixed breeds. Abbott said the dogs were gentle and kind.
Abbott has no idea who would want to kill his dogs.
