Sony Worldwide Studios box Shuhei Yoshida confirmed that the PlayStation 4 will only support four control pads via Twitter, though the PS3 could utilize up to seven controllers.
We reported that the Xbox One would support up to eight wireless controllers Tuesday with a range of up to 30 feet.
The new PS4 controllers will feature a touch pad, light bar and a share button.
DICE producer Aleksander Grondal said in August that he was impressed with the social element provided by the share button, saying it will be a cool element to bring to their new title Battlefield 4.
“That’s a super cool thing for us. The ability to share has been on PCs for a few years and people have done it a lot,” Grondal said.
