Two concerts rock Islamorada and Marathon in the Florida Keys

Two concerts, one free at a waterfront amphitheater, beckon to one and all today in Islamorada. The first called "Animal Fair" is set for 4 p.m. and is a tribute to pets. Performed by the volunteer Keys Community Concert Band, the hourlong concert is at Islamorada's Founders Park, mile marker 87 bayside.

Leashed dogs are welcome, and they and their owners may enjoy a jaunt in the two-part (big and little dog) Dog Park within walking distance of the amphitheater afterward.

For a foot-stomping, hand-clapping good time, music lovers also are invited to puchase tickets to see Foothills Brass, a quintet scheduled to perform this evening Saturday, Feb. 18, in Islamorada and Monday, Feb. 20, in Marathon. Trumpets, trombone, tuba and a French horn are to blast Baroque splendor, Latin fire, tunes from the Opera and jazz.

The group has made music together for 30 years and its motto is “serious fun.” To date, the quintet’s highly engaging music has entertained a million schoolchildren in addition to audiences of all ages.
