Get to know the political powerhouse couple of Ken and Perry Buck on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Cheesy Lee’s in Estes Park. The couple will kick off the event at 1:00 with political talk served up with coffee and cookies.

Ken Buck (R) is the current District Attorney for Weld County and running against Mark Udall (D) for the U.S. Senate. Mark Udall has been a Senator for Colorado since 2009. Udall voted for the health care overhaul (Affordable Care Act, commonly called ObamaCare) and is now running from those votes he stood by so staunchly. The two are currently neck and neck in the polling. (

A complete opposite of what Ken Buck stands for, Senator Mark Udall voted for the Immigration Modernization Act, but against completion of the US-Mexico border fence and requiring documentation through the US-VISIT system to enter the US. He also voted to put limits on firearm magazine capacity. Along with multiple “yea” votes for ObamaCare, his voting record is mostly liberal (69/100), with 13/100 on the conservative side ( For a record of Senator Mark Udall’s votes, go to

Colorado is a true swing state, and it begs the question: is a liberal politician (Udall) representing the majority of his constituents? Or, is he voting for himself and the extreme left of his own party instead of what is best for Colorado? Ken Buck offers a distinct alternative to the representation in Congress from Mark Udall over the past 5 years.

Ken calls for a return to conservative principles to rein in the government, cut massive spending, and pass a constitutional balanced budget amendment. He is a Christian who believes in the dignity of every human, from conception to natural death.

Perry Buck (R) is in the Colorado House of Representatives (District 49) and up for re-election. She calls herself a “constitutional conservative.” District 49 covers all of Larimer County, except for Fort Collins and Loveland. ( No information was found on an opponent.

Prefer the more personal side of the political spectrum? Ken graduated from Princeton University where he played football for the Tigers, then received his law degree from the University of Wyoming. He was also the Chief of the Criminal Division at the Colorado U.S. Attorney’s office. Perry graduated from Pepperdine University with a degree in English. She has been an insurance agent, and President and CEO of Northern Colorado Event Planning. They enjoy gardening, sports, reading and fighting for Republican principles.

Each candidate will speak about why they are best for the job they are running for. A short question and answer session will be followed by an informal meet and greet with both Ken and Perry. This event is sponsored by the Estes Park GOP.
