From reusable bags made from knitted plastic throwaways to carryalls made from new technology, the bag market has been growing into big business.

BlueAvocado's gro-pak system features five separate component bags made completely of recycled materials. The line features two "Veg" bags – lightweight, ventilated produce bags; a "Pod" – a collapsible, ultra-light, all-purpose grocery bag; a "Gro" – a sturdy bag with an adjustable strap for shoulder or hand carrying; a "Chil" – an insulated bag that keeps groceries hot or cold for up to three hours; and a "Pak" – a cute carry-all tote that holds and folds the entire system neatly together. The “Pak” actually makes a fabulous everyday diaper bag, especially with the “starter kit” that includes a “pod” and “veg.” Plus BlueAvocado invests 1% of their income to KIVA.org, one of my favorite non profits which funds loans for micro-entrepreneurs around the world.

Blue Q bags are created from 95% recycled post-consumer material, the highest percentage of any woven polypropylene bag on the market. Used plastic bottles and grain sacks are collected, cleaned, ground, and melted into rolls of recycled plastic which are then printed with Blue Q’s unique artwork and funky prints. The six versatile styles arange from $4 for a coin purse to $18 for the Overnighter with zipper closure and are available locally at Jimmystyle.
