Two Big Festivals This Weekend

Baltimore Beer Week is officially underway and tomorrow you can dust off your lederhosen and head down to Timonium Fairgrounds for Bmore’s largest beer festival, The Maryland Brewer’s Oktoberfest! You can expect the traditional old-country German fare including brats and all kinds of other German foods, Oompah bands serving up German drinking songs, and of course beer, beer, and more beer. There will be contests throughout the day including the Home Brew Competition, the Miss Oktoberfest Contest, and Baltimore’s Best Beer Belly Contest. Some of your favorite local breweries will be found on tap, including Flying Dog, Heavy Seas, DuClaw, and many more. There will also be a few local rock bands playing the festival including Baltimore’s own Vs the Earth at 1pm and Virginia’s JunkFood at 4pm. Tickets are available for $20 at the door, the madness starts at noon!

Tomorrow is a busy festival day, as the 4th annual Island Bay Day is also happening in Stevensville all day from 11am to 11pm. This is an outdoor festival so bring your chairs and blankets. There will be food, beer, and even local wine tastings but the bands are the biggest reason to attend this festival. Hometown heroes Kix will headline the show with a great supporting cast of local bands. You will also see Sweet Leda, No Pets for Noah, The 8 Ohms Band, and many more. Tickets are $25 and best of all, Island Bay Day is a charity event with the proceeds benefiting wounded soldiers at Walter Reed. Two great shows, one busy day, time to welcome autumn in style!
