Two big events in Tampa Bay this Saturday, January 28th

There are two big, free events going on this Saturday for your enjoyment and either option would make for great fun this weekend.

Seminole Hard Rock Gasparilla Pirate Fest - The Gasparilla Invasion into Tampa starts at the Convention Center at 11:30 a.m. (brunch is available for purchase at 10 a.m.)  The annual Parade of Pirates is one you must attend at least once while living in Tampa Bay.  It’s a tradition!  The parade starts in South Bayshore at 2 p.m. and it lasts for several hours ending at Cass Street and Ashley Drive in downtown.  Parking is found all along the route or you can avoid the crowds by parking in Ybor City and riding the TECO Line Streetcar to the parade route.  Once you are downtown, take the free In-town Trolley Green Line to get around.  After the parade, enjoy the Pirate Fest Street Festival downtown until 10 p.m. offering rides, live entertainment, and food.  There is no admission into the event.  For details on parade route, transportation/parking options, and all other pirate info, go to the website www.gasparillapiratefest.com.  Also, check out the Friday Extra in the Tampa Tribune this Friday for all pirate details.

Dade City Kumquat Festival – This annual festival takes place annually on the last Saturday in January.  From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., stroll down Meridian Street in historic downtown Dade City located between State Road 52 and Highway 301 and look at over 250 booths offering all kinds of items.  There will be live music, face painting, antique cars and trucks as well as arts and crafts.  The merchants in the area will also be open offering quaint shops and antiques.  Be sure to stop at the Kumquat growers’ tent to try your free sample.  Bring home free recipes and purchase kumquat puree, salad dressing, marinade, salsa, and many other baked goods made of kumquats.  For more details go to www.kumquatfestival.org

Have a great weekend and get out and enjoy the fabulous weather we will have here in Tampa!
