Two big blues events announced in Des Moines

Blues fans, mark your calendars. Two big blues events have been announced recently that you won't want to miss.

First, on February 8, the Central Iowa Blues Society presents their 20th Annual Winter Blues Fest at the Downtown Des Moines Marriott. The music will kick off at 5 p.m. and then run until the wee hours of the morning. Tickets for the festival are $15 in advance and $18 at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased online through the Central Iowa Blues Society website. Here is a look at the Winter Blues Fest's 20th Anniversary lineup:

Next, on March 8, Wooly's in Des Moines East Village will host the Bottoms Up Blues Bash. The event is a fundraiser for Colon Cancer Awareness Month and will feature performances by Dustin Busch & Mark Janssen, the Jean Marie Salem Project, and Iowa Blues Hall of Famer Bob Dorr & The Blue Band. Doors for this all ages show open at 6 p.m., and the music starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Children 12 and under get in free. Advance tickets may be purchased through Wooly's or Ticketfly.
