Two arrested for theft of deer stand and camera in DeQuincy

In October 2011, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched in reference to a theft that occurred on No Name Road in DeQuincy. 

When deputies spoke with the victim, he advised while checking on his hunting lease property, he discovered his 4x8 deer stand with tower and Moultrie game camera, valued at over $1,800, was missing. 

During the investigation, detectives were contacted by several witnesses who advised they were approached by Trace J. Davis, 17, 1195 Rigmaiden Cemetary Road, DeQuincy, and Kyle T. Boner, 21, 1046 Louisa Drive, Sulphur, who were trying to sell a deer stand that matched the description of the stand reported stolen.

When questioned by detectives, both confirmed to stealing and selling the stand from the lease.  Detectives have located the deer stand and are in the process of recovering it, but the game camera has not been recovered. 

Davis and Boner were arrested and booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with theft over $1,500; and illegal possession of stolen things over $1,500.

Judge David Ritchie set Boner’s bond at $30,000.  Davis, who had active warrants for contempt of court, is being held without bond.
