Palo Alto police reported today that they have identified and arrested the two suspects allegedly responsible for the December 2012 robbery of a midtown liquor store.
Century Liquors was robbed at gunpoint just before 8 p.m. on December 29, police say. No one was injured in the robbery, but the suspects managed to escape with cash and more than $200 of alcohol.
Detectives continued their investigation and were ultimately led to 18-year-old Amador Valentin Rivera of East Palo Alto, and a 16-year-old boy who splits his time between homes in Oakland and Menlo Park.
This isn’t the first run-in Rivera and the unidentified teen have had with Palo Alto police. On January 5, they, along with a third suspect, were arrested for allegedly committing a carjacking using a very realistic looking BB gun.
Rivera has been in Santa Clara County Jail since his carjacking arrest, while the juvenile had been released from custody. The juvenile was arrested again at his Oakland school on February 15 and booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall. Both have been charged with robbery.
Palo Alto detectives continue to investigate a series of six street robberies dating back to December 2, five of which occurred in the downtown area. At this time, police say they do not know if Rivera and the juvenile are connected to those crimes.
Anyone with information on these cases is asked to contact Palo Alto police at (650) 329-2413 or the anonymous tip line at (650) 383-8984.
