Two arrested for allegedly having sex with underage girls in a Warren hotel

According to Warren police a 21 year old man and a 17 year old teen, both from Macomb Township, could face charges involving sex with underage girls.

The pair allegedly met the girls, ages 13 and 15, at Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights on Tuesday evening, Warren deputy police commissioner Louis Galasso said. The age of consent in Michigan is 16. Having sex with a person under 16, even if they consent, is known as statutory rape.

The group “became very friendly with one another” at the mall and agreed to meet later that night, Galasso said.

Both girls allegedly snuck out of their homes and eventually ended met up with the two males at the Americas Best Value Inn and Suites on Miller, Galasso said.

When one of the girls returned home early Wednesday, her mother learned of the encounter and immediately called police.

During the investigation, the suspects were apprehended after a short pursuit.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office is expected to review the case and determine possible charges.
