For many people, vacations are a way to momentarily disconnect themselves from all things tech-related, like social media. However, one hotel allows guests to integrate social media into their vacation.
Located on the Spanish island of Majorca, the Sol Wave House, which opened a year ago, features Twitter-themed rooms, drinks, and a virtual community called #SocialWave that guests can use to interact with each other. Guests tweet with each other by logging into Twitter using a special app that’s only available through the hotel’s Wi-Fi network. Once logged in, guests can share pictures, send private messages, see who’s online, find out where other visitors are staying in the hotel, and send virtual kisses.
In addition to its networking features, the Sol Wave House also hosts “#TwitterPoolParties” on Fridays, where guests can enjoy Twitter-themed cocktails or shots. The hotel also features Twitter Party Suites, private party suites that host up to four people and come with blue (the color of Twitter’s logo) balloons, blue licorice arranged like hashtags, and mirrors for tweet-worthy moments. Guests can tweet @SolWaveHouse for services like minibar refills and food and drink orders.
