Twitter is changing the marketing game, learn how to play

Social networking has totally revamped the way people connect with one another. Among some of the most popular sites are LinkedIn and Facebook, which have created additional avenues for business professionals to interact digitally. But neither has reached the status of marketing phenomenon for businesses, both large and small, like Twitter, the 140 character micro blogging tool.

Large companies such as Dell, Coca Cola, and Starbucks are known to use Twitter to promote their products, but the power of social networking, when done properly, is that it allows small business to promote and market themselves on the same level as a Fortune 500 company, although their marketing budgets may vastly differ.

Tonya R. Taylor, of Rising Star Ideas, LLC, specializes in teaching how to leverage Twitter for business through her seminars and workshops. Tonya says, “Social media is not a fad; look around you its here to stay. It doesn't matter if a business owner is participating in the conversations on Facebook or Twitter, people are talking about their products. Those people are driving the perception of their brand whether they like it or not. Therefore it would benefit most industries to at least understand how to use Facebook and Twitter for business as a tool to listen to industry trends and hear what people are saying about their brand.”

Tonya points out that some of the great benefits of using Twitter is its extremely low barrier to entry and that it’s a perfect tool for the technically challenged. Entrepreneurs and business owners do not need to purchase any additional software or hardware to take advantage of free marketing; they just need Internet access and an email. The only cost is time which is necessary with any marketing effort.

In order to harness the power of Twitter, business owners should learn about the features and other productivity tools to help them identify new ways to effectively market their business. Tonya is offering the Twitter Quick-Start Toolkit Workshop, a live workshop is designed to give participants a solid, ready-to-use action plan with invaluable, hands-on learning, including how to create a Twitter profile that brings you valuable followers, essential Twitter language and etiquette, easy ways to find your ideal targeted followers and much more. The workshop is scheduled for Thursday, February 25, 2010 in Columbia, MD.

Tonya R. Taylor, founder of Rising Star Ideas, LLC, is the author of the “Twitter Quick-Start Toolkit “ and creator 101 Free Tool.com, an emerging free and low cost online business tools resource for small business owners who want to address tomorrow’s technology needs today.
