Twis Notes week ending August 23, 2014

Our lone encounter of the week occurred under overcast skies, Thursday, as Wild Willey’s were on deck.

We played with our full team in quite some time which permitted some defensive movement. This game would prove to be one of our best efforts of the season.

Christiane is a real value to the Rockets. Defensively, she played four different positions, and played them well. No better evidence then that nifty grab in the 4th inning from the Center field spot.

Christiane also produced a key double in the 6th inning driving in three. There were great performances from Ines, Tracey, and Sylvie Allaire who all contributed key hits.

Our defense was mint. We allowed eight hits, all but one a double. We accomplished this with our heart and hustle, as everyone contributed to this effort. Plays of significance was a 10-6 putout in the 2nd, Dumoulin’s running catch, in the 5th, and Katie-Rozon in the 6th completing a two assist performance.

We won this game due to our discipline on offense. We took advantage of seven walks, which four of them scored. Difficult, as being issued a free pass, the bigger picture is its contribution to our victory.

Salut! Bonjour! Elvis has left the building!

Rockets win 11-7

Game time: 1h17m
Girlfriend of the game: Christiane

Your excellent play solidified a 2nd place seeding. This was accomplished by tremendous team unison, putting Rocket softball ahead of individual goals.

The road ahead has us playing our final regular season game against Spiros, late Monday night.

At press time, the final playoff schedule is unknown. Kindly keep close to this in making family arrangements. I will be with mine Monday, and whatever days are needed.

Til we meet again,

Have fun, stay young, drink lots of beer, and speak highly of me!
