Twin Cities produced feature, Thin Ice, to screen February 17 at Lagoon Cinema

Greg Kinnear headlines a cast that also includes Billy Crudup, Alan Arkin, Lea Thompson, and Bob Balaban in the Twin Cities produced feature, Thin Ice, which screens at the Lagoon Cinema in Minneapolis on Friday, February 17, 2012.

Described by critics as a "comedy noir" with "dialogue worthy of the Coen Brothers", Thin Ice was an official selection of the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, though under the title "The Convincer".  ATO Pictures picked up the US theatrical rights and has secured an opening release in limited cities.

ATO not only changed the title of the picture financed through Twin Cities production company, Werc Werk Works, they brought in a new editor and composer and dismissed the film's director, Jill Sprecher (who also co-wrote the script) from any say in the new cut of the movie.  It is rumored that Sprecher's original cut will be included on the Blu Ray release.

Filmed in and around the Twin Cities in early 2010, Thin Ice follows a small-time insurance agent (Kinnear) who embarks on an elaborate con of a lonely retired farmer (Arkin) sitting on something much bigger than an insurance claim.  Things turn ugly when a nosy, unstable locksmith (Crudup) gets in the way.  Blending dark comedy and delirious Midwestern noir, Thin Ice reaches a breaking point that no one could ever see coming.
