Twin Cities music weekend preview: January 29-31

The cabin fever is setting in and staying in on the weekend is no longer a source of comfort, it's a source of insanity. Luckily the mid-winter show drought seems to have passed. While national acts may not dare travel through these parts at least until late February, tons of local bands are playing. Why not get out of the house, support local music, and have some fun while you're at it? It will make the rest of the winter that much more bearable. I promise.

Friday, January 29:

Mystery Palace, These Modern Socks, Two Harbors - Turf Club 21+

Caroline Smith & The Goodnight Sleeps, No Bird Sing, Adam Svec - Kitty Cat Klub 21+
Solid Gold, P.O.S., Lookbook, Mason Jennings - First Avenue 18+

Saturday, January 30:

Dragons Power Up! - Eclipse Records AA
Love-Cars, The Evening Rig, Colder In Moscow - Triple Rock Social Club 18+
Private Dancer, The Dynamiters, Baby Tears, F Knights - Hexagon Bar 21+ (last Private Dancer show of the winter)

Kill To Kill, Grant Cutler & His Gorgeous Lords, Blue Sky Blackout, IS/IS - 7th Street Entry 18+

Chooglin', Awesome Snakes, The Dirty Hits - Turf Club 21+

And on Sunday, the Triple Rock Social Club now hosts Vital Vinyl Sundays where local vinyl connoisseurs, as the T-Rock puts it, "spin sweet jams for your drinking and dining pleasure."
