A former Army officer, Aaron Lucas, whose father said was sexually abused as a child, was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison in El Paso County, Colo. on Friday in connection to nine cases of sexual assaults on children between the ages of four and 10.
The Gazette reported on March 1 that the 32-year-old Lucas, who was formerly assigned to Fort Carson outside of Colorado Springs, previously blamed the sexual assaults on his twin brother – but recanted his “evil twin” defense in Nov. 2013 and pleaded guilty to the nine cases’ worth of child sexual abuse charges.
DNA evidence tied him to the cases, prosecutors said.
The charges against him included indecent exposure, kidnapping, and rape.
Reportedly, the convicted child predator was awarded the Bronze Star during his time in the military for valor in Afghanistan.
In a somewhat Hollywood style twist to this story, Lucas’ twin brother, Brian Lucas, was arrested in Huntsville, Ala. in Jan. and accused of his own child sexual abuse charges - including two counts of first degree sodomy and two counts of first degree sexual abuse - and is being held without bond while awaiting trial.
Brian will have his preliminary hearing on March 12 in Ala.
