'Twilight' star, Tinsel Korey, joins MTV online as 'Hope for Haiti' correspondent

Indigenous actress and musician, Tinsel Korey, is stepping up to take an active stance for the benefit of Haiti.

In addition to donating and helping to bring awareness to Teens for Jeans Haiti campaign, Tinsel Korey has also joined MTV as an online correspondent in support of Haiti relief efforts. After spreading the word that she was interested in helping with an upcoming MTV telethon for Haiti relief, yesterday Tinsel Korey announced via Twitter that she asked by MTV to become an online correspondent for the “Hope for Haiti Now” fundraiser. She had this to say to her fans:

 "Thank you to everyone who called in and wrote to MTV! They contacted my team and now I can help! Its all thanks to you! you are the greatest."

"Hope for Haiti Now" has already begun accepting donations as of Friday, January 22, 2010. The "Hope for Haiti Now" fundraiser will benefit Oxfam America, Partners in Health, the Red Cross, UNICEF, United Nations World Food Programme, Yele Haiti Foundation and the newly formed Clinton Bush Haiti Foundation. Proceeds from the telethon will be split among each organization for Haiti earthquake relief.

The Hope for Haiti telethon is set to air tonight at 8:00 p.m. You can donate by texting "GIVE" to 50555 right now.

"Hope for Haiti Now" will air commercial-free across ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, CNN, BET, the CW, HBO, MTV, VH1, CMT, PBS, TNT, Showtime, Comedy Central, Bravo, E! Entertainment, National Geographic Channel, Oxygen, and many more. The event will also be streamed live online across sites including YouTube, Hulu, MySpace, Fancast, AOL, MSN.com, Yahoo, Bing.com, BET.com, CNN.com, MTV.com, VH1.com and Rhapsody, and on mobile via Alltel, AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and FloTV. It will be available non-exclusively to all terrestrial radio stations around the globe and SIRIUS XM Radio as a one-time-only radio broadcast via the MTV Radio Network and Westwood One.
