MySpace did a live feed from the Twilight Saga: New Moon premiere. Unfortunately, they had several “glitches” where they lost feed, and one of the hosts of this event was probably the worst choice they could have made.
MySpace offered the feature of being able to tweet about the live feed (via #newmoonpremiere), and most of these tweets were centered on the shameless, overindulgent, self promoting plugging done by the above mentioned host, Anya Marina. Yes, she did write and perform one of the songs on the New Moon soundtrack, but we all lost count of the number of times she mentioned it, as well as the number of actors that actually inspired her to write this song. Is it possible to be inspired by every actor’s performance?
This along the nasally voice, drove people absolutely crazy. Twitter was soon flooded by people begging for Courtney, the essay winner, to please take her place. If you are one of the 250,000 people that watched this, you are wanting a few hours of your life back, with the exception of a few good moments, the rest of the world’s population will most likely be able to experience this for themselves soon enough as the live feeds become complied and posted to different websites.
On the plus side of this red carpet event, thousands of fans showed up and seem to have had the time of their lives. The cast appeared to be kind and gracious to everyone they spoke with and everyone’s enjoyment is shown in the pictures that have already surfaced.
Despite the disappointment that many experienced through the MySpace live feed, everyone did enjoy the chatter it caused and those at the event have experienced something they will never forget. This only shows us that Twilight is here to stay, for at least another year.
Please leave your thoughts and comments about the MySpace live feed, or the photos from the Red Carpet below.
