Twilight's Taylor Lautner walked the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet last night (and presented the now infamous Best Female Video award to Taylor Swift), and had plenty to say about Eclipse and co-star Robert Pattinson.

Speaking with MTV News, Lautner said filming the series' third installment has been a good experience so far. "Yes it's a lot of fun," he said. "I think we're, like, a month in, so it's exciting to be back with our new director David Slade and back with the whole team again."

Lautner thinks Slade may take the series in a different direction than previous directors Chris Weitz and Catherine Hardwicke. "It's been good. He's a lot different, but I think he's going to add a cool taste to the movie," he explained. "It might be a little darker."

When asked about his perpetual shirtless scenes and how he thinks fans will react, Lautner said, "I think they might start crying."

And what about co-star Robert Pattinson showing some skin in New Moon? If it came down to a vampire/werewolf showdown, Lautner says, "I don't know [who would win]. Rob, he's getting some muscle. There's some good competition." When asked if he's been giving Pattinson workout pointers, Lautner laughed, saying, "No, he definitely doesn't need any pointers at all. He's got it covered."
