Robert Pattinson fans may want to avert their eyes, because this week, it's all about Team Jacob: Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner grace the cover of this week's Entertainment Weekly and dish some secrets on The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
The double issue hits newsstands tomorrow, and packs plenty of behind-the-scenes scoop. And while fans may be disappointed by less Edward Cullen, Pattinson couldn't be happier: "It was a stress-free job for three months," he tells the mag. "All the pressure was on Taylor."
Lautner certainly did deal with his share of pressure. There was plenty of speculation leading up to the sequel that he would be replaced in the role of Jacob in favor of a more mature actor. "It's completely understandable why they wanted to make sure he was right," Stewart says. "He was so young, 16, so I got it. But I knew he had [to do] it. Just because of how I felt around him." Describing her relationship with Lautner, she says it's not unlike Bella and Jacob's friendship. "We have that relationship. It's lamely cute."
As for Lautner's shocking body transformation, he says it took plenty of hard work. And milkshakes. “My body fat got so low that we actually needed to increase it a little bit,” he says. “My trainer would be like, ‘Go have a huge milk shake just so I can get a thousand calories into your body.’”
And fans of the series, take heart: Stewart says the second film will be even better than the first. “[Making Twilight] was much more of a fight,” she says. “We needed to make something commercial but stay true to the book. We didn’t have enough money. It was all very impulsive, and that’s what I love about that movie…But I think New Moon is gonna be even better.”
Check out the video below of Lautner doing flips, and Stewart telling him to grow into his cajones. Gotta love her.
