It is a well known fact that tickets for the Michael Jackson film 'This is It' have been selling like crazy, and October 27 advanced screenings have been selling out worldwide. It appears that Twilight: New Moon is in fact no match for the forever reigning King of Pop, Michael Jackson. According to E Online:
'Fandango said the concert movie was its new top-seller, ousting The Twilight Saga: New Moon. MovieTickets.com said it had already recorded more than 550 sellouts. And to put a global point on it, Sony Pictures bragged about big business from Britain to Japan.
Yahoo News reported that 'This is It' had sold more than 30,000 tickets in the UK which is more tickets than for advance purchases for Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings.
The question now remains: Which of the two films will be the highest grossing worldwide?

I think Twilight, because it will be in theaters for many weeks, and This is it is just for two.
Twilight is a bunch of BS meant for lovesick, emo teenage girls.
I believe that This Is It will completely fill up the theatres, something I haven't seen for 8 years. It might also be the highest-grossing film in the shortest showtimes or something similar to that.
Twilight will probably sell about as much or more only because it runs for more dates. I've been to the theatres for this, and there are barely 27 seats filled there out of the 300 seats there. I may be a 16 yr old girl, but I don't watch Twilight garbage. What BS.
i think that new moon isn't out for another month after michael jackson's movie. you'll see the ticket sales go up closer to time.
Although This Is It will be popular, it will not beat Twilight. Remember This Is It is simply a documentary/concert movie and those never come close to the huge Harry Potter/ Twilight movies. I think in the US This Is It will do 70-80 million, and 200 million globally while Twilight's New Moon is guaranteed to do much more.
i think twilight also. for one, you are going to have a bunch of screaming teenage girl who will be lining up in the dark waiting to see new moon, i know it happend with twilight (i work at a movie theatre) i also dont think half of the people out dont see that this movie is a documentary, so i dont know what they are expecting to see. jackson is only popular because he is now dead.
see now that you have written something that will make twilight fans crazy, you know that they will do their hardest to see new moon win. the twilight fans are made up of mostly teenage girl, and young women. most of teens and kids dont care about jackson. they werent alive when he was huge, twilight is the biggest fad going on right now. so mark my words, you know new moon will end up grossing more.

My husband loves the books so does my grandmother SO PEOPLE LIKE YOU SHOULD STOP HATING AND DO YOUR DAMN HOMEWORK ! Teens can't make 400 million dollars in the box office.
Ok Michael's movie will do good but NEW MOON DOESN'T COME OUT till the end of Nov. and since I haven't bought my tickets and I plan on watching it 4 times that weekend and I know lots of people haven't bought their tickets so well have to wait on those numbers till that weekend. But I think New Moon will out do the documentary movie which I'll watch online.

I think the deciding factor is that the Jackson movie is said to only be in theaters for 2 weeks, so people feel that if they want to see it they'd better rush for tickets. I personally have no desire to watch a pedophile/drug-addict rehearse for a concert. I'd rather see New Moon 100 times! And I was alive when he was big, and I now he wasn't big when he died. Dead does not equal interesting, entertaining, or worth while.
Of course Twilight is going to beat the drug addicted Jackson documentary! Michaels movie is only in the theaters for 2 weeks and plus Michaels fans are older so it's easy for them to purchase tickets online than it is for teenagers and such! Even though I'm 27 an a ton of my friends and older friends are in love with twilight we have already bought our tickets! New Moon doesn't come out for another 50 days! Wait....New Moon will surpass Jackson!!! For Sure!!!
New Moon will do very well and so will Eclipse, hopefully with all the success of the first 3 Twilight films there will definatly be the 4th and final Twilight film Breaking Dawn.

I think its kinda pathetic that all of you 40-something Twilight moms out there are so hot on boys half your age!! Im only 20 and I know that I probably have more love and respect for Michael Jackson than any of you!! And I wasnt even alive when he was BIG! I would see Michael's movie 100 times more than I would see New Moon! You people need to get your heads out of the fantasy world that is Twilight and come back down to earth!! Michael was a REAL man! And he was a GREAT man!! SO RESPECT HIM!
