New Moon is still a hit at the box office for the second weekend in a row, coming in at $42.5 million for The Twilight Saga: New Moon. The Twilight sequel, New Moon remained number one for the second straight weekend, but The Blind Side with Sandra Bullock came in a close second at $40.1 million.
New Moon made $142.8 million for its opening weekend, making it the third largest grossing opening weekend ever, behind the Batman movie, The Dark Knight in 2008 and Spiderman III in 2007. The movie opened Friday, November 20, and made $72.7 million that Friday and broke the one day box office record, beating out The Dark Knight which had the previous record of $67.2 million.
New Moon sales dropped sharply from its opening weekend, while The Blind Side increased from its opening weekend of $34.1 million. To read New Moon reviews, the good and the bad, click here.
