Twilight Lexicon Hosts Eclipse Showing in Nashville

For the third year in a row, the Nashville-based Twilight Lexicon will be hosting a Twilight Saga Movie Event. This year's event is a special showing of the third movie in the Twilight series, Eclipse, on Saturday, July 3 at 10 am at the Carmike Cinema Thoroughbred 20 in Franklin, TN.

I had the opportunity to speak with event organizer Lori Joffs who told me the $10.50 ticket price covers the cost of the tickets plus the giveaways -- and what prizes!

"The smallest thing anyone will walk out with is an 8 x10 color glossy picture of Edward or Bella or one of the other cast members," Joffs told me, "but the main portion of the giveaways is autographs." Joffs said she has obtained 107 autographed items and other Twilight goodies from from Borders, Hot Topic, Burger King, and other venders including t-shirts, decorative buttons or pins, pillows, water bottles, Twilight bags. rare posters, etc. Creation Entertainment has donated two tickets to a future convention, Infinite jewelry donated a Bella's bracelet and Bella's ring set, and one lucky winner will go home with an autographed copy of Eclipse from Stephanie Meyer.

Joffs recently donated another autographed copy of Eclipse to the 'Do the Write Thing' benefit event, and that book went for $600. "It's really hard to get her autograph," Joffs stated. "I anticipate all the official merchandise will be gone quickly. I have a stack of about 150 8 X 10 color glossies and 200 Burger King crowns for anyone who doesn't get a big prize."

Joffs, who is quite the expert on everything Twilight and is mentioned in the Eclipse acknowledgments, said she thinks the books and movies are definitely faith based. In particular, she found the character of Edward to be "a very moralistic person," stating, "Yes, he's a vampire and he's killed people, but he wants to do one thing that is right for himself and for Bella - that they would not become sexually intimate until they are married." Joffs went on to point out, "Carlisle was the son of a minister, and even though he is now what he is, he still believes in God and in the good in man. That's why the Cullens live the way they live - they don't take human lives, but they try to do what is right."

Since this is the first time a Twilight movie has released in IMax, the original plan was to have the Eclipse showing at an IMAX theater. "Then the Nashville Flood hit, and I had to call Carmike."

The doors open at 9 AM on July 3, with the Eclipse showing at 10 AM. You can find more infomation including ticket information at the Twilight Lexicon.
