In an amazing-to-believe turn of events, ‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn—Part 2’ has been nominated for a few Razzies—actually, it was nominated in every single category.
The Razzies are the anti-Oscars. They award the weakest and most critically-panned films of the year in a ceremony that stars notoriously do not go to. It makes headlines when celebrities appear to accept their ‘awards’ (Halle Berry very famously accepted the Worst Actress Award for ‘Catwoman’ the same year she was the Oscar for ‘Monster’s Ball’).
To be fair, this final ‘Twilight’ film was called the ‘best’ (using that term loosely) entry in the series. And, as Bryan Enk puts it for MovieTalk on Yahoo!, ‘It is a bit of a lazy (and unfair) stunt to pull; at this point, it's become somewhat tiresome to trash on “Twilight,” especially after it's made its final bow.’
Other nominees include Milla Jovovich for Worst Actress in ‘Resident Evil: Retribution’ (which even I would call a little odd, since she is a capable actress who happens to be stuck in a horrible video game movie series) and then the couple of nominations that ‘Atlas Shrugged: Part II’ managed to get. Remember ‘Part I’? Thought so.
And then ‘Battleship’ managed to get a few ‘honorable’ nods—which, as Enk says, ‘why hate on harmless dum-dum summer fare like “Battleship,” which earned six nominations (including a completely ridiculous Worst Supporting Actor nod for Liam Neeson)’. And then you get Tyler Perry—poor Tyler Perry, since he’s been nominated in three categories, including Worst Actress for ‘Madea’s Witness Protection’.
