'Twilight' actor Charlie Bewley finishes first marathon, raises $20,000

"Twilight" actor Charlie Bewley sunk his teeth into his first full marathon yesterday, and raised $20,000 for a local charity in the process.

Bewley completed the BMO Vancouver Marathon in 4:03:50, averaging just over 9 minute miles, a very respectable marathon debut.  According to Deidra Rowland, a spokeswoman for the event, he crossed the finish line in tears.

After the race Bewley posted on his Twitter account:

"I just wanna say how humbled I was by the MONUMENTAL amount of support I received thruout the Run For Your Life inaugural campaign - not least yesterday, under a glorious Vancouver sun... the energy was palpable.  Thank You all from the bottom of my heart. This is only the beginning."

Bewley ran the Vancouver Marathon in honor of Jocelyn Clarke, a local stunt double who lost her life to cancer in February.  All of the money Bewley raised went to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.

Bewley is most well-known for playing Demetri in the "Twilight" saga.  He'll make his next appearance in the series in 2012 in the final installment, "The Twilight Saga:  Breaking Dawn Part 2."

Benard Onsare, 25, of Kenya won the men's division of the BMO Vancouver Marathon in 2:19:59.  Keddi-Anne Sherbino of Kelowna, BC was the women's champion in 2:43:40.
