A twerking mom was really working it, swinging her booty around like the best of them. But in strolls her infant daughter, and the wrecking-ball badonka donk knocks her to the ground. Voila. Instant viral video.
As Today.com put it on May 1: The “perils of twerking.” Yes, we’ve all done a few twists and bends, some boogies and some salsas, some twerks and grinds even – all in the privacy of our living room. Our crazy dancing generally doesn’t make it onto the computer screens and tablets of hundreds of thousands of viewers however, and for good reason. But give credit to this Utah mom and her willingness to post her twerk-felt-round the world for our amusement.
“I decided to enter an online dance-off for moms, but was a little hesitant about posting a clip of me dancing on the Internet,” said mom Summer Knowlden on her YouTube upload. “I wanted to practice a little before and this is an outtake from my ‘warm-up.’ It's too good not to share!!”
Dancing to T.I.'s "Bring Em Out," this mom showed us some serious moves. But don't fret; no need to call up Child Protective Services. Knowlden is happy to report that no infants were harmed in the making of this video. The dancing Knowlden says that her daughter is fine. “Don't worry, no one was hurt! Our daughter didn't even cry," wrote Knowlden, says ParentDish. "She just laid on the ground a little surprised." As are we!
Knowlden said she was practicing to enter an online dance contest for moms, and admits she was a little nervous about posting video of herself for the world to see. But she evidently got over that fear in a jiffy; over 700,000 people have watched her YouTube vid and chuckled as you and I did after seeing her whip that booty around.
Not all are getting their laughs on though. Writes Jeanette Batur from Cambio.com:
Moms and twerking don't even belong in the same sentence and this is a perfect example of why. Aside from the fact that it would be totally weird to see your mom twerking, this parent just proved why it's a bad idea for reasons that go way beyond the cringe-worthy thought of your mom dry-humping the air.
Summer has definitely given us new meaning to “baby got back.” Her 13-second video now lives on in Internet fame, or at least until the next goofy clip surfaces and we all go wild. One day, her daughter will watch the video, and likely give her old mum a few pointers as to how to get her twerk on.
Enjoy the clip and share!
