Twerking: Not tweeting, not a tag hag, not trolling the internet; come on, are you a tard? There’s a reason why the latest urban “t” word is trending. In case you missed it, it has to do with a certain former Hannah Montana turned nasty stripper-like teen icon, whose flesh-colored bikini tops and tight shorts were “twerking” all over fellow singer Robin Thicke at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards.
The Associated Press on Aug. 26 gave us nine reasons why Miley and her twerking behind are already old news. But before you consider that, you'll need to educate yourself on just what twerking is.
According to the Urban Dictionary, here is the definition of twerking:
Also known as dirty dancing. When a woman slams her bottom on a man’s pelvic area while dancing… This is usually performed in a dance club along with upbeat music.
Or as the one-time Disney star Miley Cyrus demonstrated, we also have this secondary, but closely related definition.
The act of moving / shaking one’s a**, buns, bottom, buttocks, bum-bum in a circular, up-and-down, and side-to-side motion.
The pro-twerking 20-year-old Cyrus gave us quite the provocative performance at the VMAs, which also involved running a foam finger along her and Thicke's body in a most suggestive way.
“The weirdness turned into raunchy when Robin Thicke appeared on stage to perform ‘Blurred Lines.’ Cyrus remained on stage to sing backup vocals and ran a foam finger along her private parts with some major pelvic thrusts. At one point, Cyrus appeared to be nuzzling Thicke’s neck. But the most talked-about moment came when Cyrus bent down in front of Thicke and gave him the mother of all twerks,” says ABC News.
It's pretty bad when Hollywood A-list stars are left with their mouths agape, but stare wide-eyed and speechless they did. As did we at Cyrus and her twerking ways.
You're not the only one confused and "bummed out" over Cyrus and her transformation from cute pop star and Disney princess doing G-rated kiddie shows to raunchy, all-grown-up, butt-gyrating and R-rated twerker. Even Robin Thicke's mom got in on the admonishment, says US Magazine.
