Twentynine Palms Marine from Illinois killed in Afghanistan

The Department of Defense has reported this morning that Lance Cpl. Nickolas A. Daniels, 25, of Elmwood Park, Illinois, lost his life in the fight Nov. 5, 2011, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

There was no infomation regarding other Marines who might have been injured in this incident.

Lcpl. Daniels was assigned to 3rd Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, California.

Sincere condolences to the family of Lcpl. Nickolas Daniels.
