In Spotsylvania it is not unheard of to see many different types of birds flying the blue skies. You can see Red Tail Hawks, Bald Eagles, and a ton of Turkey Vultures. From time to time I have even spotted a few red headed woodpeckers and many different types of Finches. So in honor of the birds of the area we are going to craft a rather adorable bird magnet. This project can be done in many different ways. You can put your bird on a wreath or on a pin to wear around. You can also get a branch and put a few birds on that branch for a center piece for your table.

Materials:
Pom-poms (Different sizes and shapes)
Feathers (Suggest the more puffy ones)
• Hot Glue or Aleene’s Tacky Glue
Glitter
• Black Beads/Google Eyes
• Magnets (The round ones which are super strong)
• Yellow or orange Foamie Sheet

Step 1: Pick out the colors and shapes of your birds' bodies. In the examples you see in the pictures, they were made with a large and a medium pom-pom. The Red Bird was made with an X-large one and a large one. When you have the ones you want, simply glue the head to the body.

Step 2: Pick out the feathers and plumage. These are the more fuzzy looking feathers. Such as here and here. Once you have all three picked out you trim them down to size and glue these onto the body.

Step 3: The eyes…there are two ways to do the eyes. One would be to use small black beads. The other would be to use Google eyes. It is really up to you on which you choose. In the pictures you can see that both were used on the birds.

Step 4: The mouth is a small diamond shape cut out of the yellow/orange foamie. Bend this in half and hold for a few seconds. Holding onto it will help to keep the mouth shut. Once you are happy with the way it looks glue it on under the eyes.

Step 5: The end is near. Here is where you decide if you want to put the bird on a pin, magnet or branch. Once you have figured that out, glue him/her there.

As you can see on the pink bird we added a little ribbon to give it a little girl flare. You can do this for any of the birds.

I agree, they are so adorable and look very simple to make, even for non-crafty type folks.

I'd have to say you make me want to craft! I love the pink bird. Adorable with the bow and feather on top. I bet all the girls would love it.
