Indie label, Tweefort Records — New Haven, CT's premiere promoter of all things pop — from power, twee, to psych (and beyond whatever genre you can think of) celebrates the release of their brand new compilation record, Home and Abroad Songs - Vol. 2 this Friday evening with a free show. This amazing label is both adventurous and charitable — releasing free digital singles, EP's, and compilations of regional and international indie bands.
As a local indie label, Tweefort is a major exporter of Connecticut-based bands to international indie music fans. The label organizes the annual "Elm City PopFest," in collaboration with Artspace New Haven, bringing the best international and regional indie pop groups together under one big tent for a few days of pure pop bliss.
Home and Abroad Songs - Vol. 2 is a double disc CD featuring 32 regional and international indie acts such as The Fictional West, The Tyler Trudeau Attempt, The Inclined Plane, Women's Basketball, Titles, The Dayzies, The Jackies, Saint Bernadette, Slam Donahue, Shark, Love & Hymen, FayRey and more.
Friday night's line-up at Cafe Nine in New Haven is pretty stellar: The Ballet, Slam Donahue, FayRey, and DayPape will be representing the regional slice of the compilation. Pitchfork recently reviewed The Ballet's "The House on Fire" single and characterized it as Stephen Merritt rewriting "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun."
If you go: February 19th at Cafe Nine, 250 State Street, New Haven, CT. Show starts at 10 p.m. 21+. Absolutely free!
