Very sad day in our area, Twedt’s bowling center will be closing on September 2nd. They have been there for 46 years and from my understanding will be torn down and a strip mall will be put in its place. So this area is down to 4 bowling centers within Gulf Coast USBC Association.
The other centers in our area are Seminole Lanes, Liberty Lanes, Ten Pins & Sunrise Lanes.
Summer leagues have ended and fall league meetings and some fall leagues have started, a majority of leagues will start after Labor Day.
Twedt’s bowlers have the options of going to another house in our area, or maybe in another area. Each of our centers offer, men’s, ladies, seniors, mixed seniors, lady seniors, and youth leagues. Some centers have youth/adult leagues.
So if you check out each center websites and see the different schedules hopefully our Twedt’s bowlers will stay in our area. Not quit bowling. I know what a close group Twedts was to their bowlers, kind of like a big family. I remember going to Twedts and presenting an award to a bowler. Before the award, the secretary had a couple announcements to be made, the league stopped what they were doing and everyone got in a group and listened to what she had to say. She announced about two people leaving, moving out of town and wished them well, wished a happy birthday to a bowler. I felt like wow these people are like family. So that is what Twedts and their bowlers are losing. But I know they can go to the other centers and make friends and bring their friends from Twedts as well.

On September 2nd, Twedt’s posted on their Facebook page – To all our league bowlers, friends, and family – Join the staff of Twedt’s Lanes on Monday, September 2nd from 2 pm to 5 pm as we say our last farewells. So stop by and say goodbye, maybe even make a few new friends.
I hope we see the employees and bowlers around the other centers.
And wish them all the best of luck, in whatever they choose to do in the future.
