(WNBC) BETTY WHITE’S 90TH BIRTHDAY: A TRIBUTE TO AMERICA’S GOLDEN GIRL Mary Tyler Moore, Ed Asner, Valerie Harper, Gavin MacLeod, Hugh Jackman, Carol Burnett, Ellen DeGeneres, Morgan Freeman and Tina Fey are among the friends and colleagues honoring Ms. White at this celebration taped at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. The festivities will be followed at 9:30 by a sneak peek of “Betty White’s Off Their Rockers,” a hidden-camera show in which the elderly blow stereotypes to smithereens as they pull pranks on their juniors.

(OWN) OPRAH AND THE LEGENDARY CAST OF ‘ROOTS’ 35 YEARS LATER Oprah Winfrey welcomes Cicely Tyson, LeVar Burton, John Amos, Leslie Uggams, Louis Gossett Jr. and Ben Vereen into her home in Montecito, Calif., as she pays tribute to the 35th anniversary of the mini-series adapted from Alex Haley’s Pulitzer Prize-winning autobiographical novel of his family’s descent from an African slave, Kunta Kinte. The saga, which drew nearly 80 million viewers, remains one of the highest-rated television mini-series ever.
8 P.M. (WCBS) HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER In this 150th episode Lily (Alyson Hannigan) moves to the suburbs with Marshall (Jason Segel), where her father (Chris Elliott) refuses to move out of their house. The gang adjusts to their absence by going to a strip club.
9 P.M. (Fox News Channel) AMERICA’S ELECTION HQ: REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE Bret Baier moderates this debate from the Myrtle Beach Convention Center in South Carolina. Juan Williams, a Fox News political analyst, and Gerald F. Seib and Kelly Evans of The Wall Street Journal are the panelists. Twitter users are invited to participate.
9 P.M. (Syfy) BEING HUMAN In this adaptation of the BBC series Aidan (Sam Witwer), a vampire, Josh (Sam Huntington), a werewolf, and Sally, a ghost (Meaghan Rath), share a town house in Boston, the better to help one another cope with their circumstances. Season 2 begins as Aidan tries to steer a city lacking a vampire leader, Sally’s powers increase and Josh tries to live a normal life with Nora (Kristen Hager).
9 P.M. (E!) FASHION POLICE: THE 2012 GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS Joan Rivers, Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic and George Kotsiopoulos critique the good, the bad and the horrendous attire worn by celebrities to Sunday night’s ceremony.
