TV Spotlight: Dave Clark Five and Beyond- Glad All Over on PBS

Great Performances will present a documentary on Dave Clark Five. The special titled "Dave Clark Five and Beyond- Glad All Over. The two -hour special is now on PBS. It will air again on Friday, April 11th.

The Dave Clark Five were the first English group to tour America 50 years ago in May 1964, starting the British Invasion. The band group had 15 consecutive Top 20 U.S. hit singles within a two-year period.

The group has also appeared a record-breaking 18 times on “The Ed Sullivan Show,” with its weekly audience of 70 million viewers. Footage from their appearances from the show is included in the special.

The special tells how Clark, Mike Smith, Denis Payton, Rick Huxley and Lenny Davidson got together and went on to worldwide success selling more than 100 million records.

The special contains new interviews with Tom Hanks, Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Steven Van Zandt of The E Street Band, Stevie Wonder, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, Gene Simmons of Kiss, Whoopi Goldberg each sharing their thoughts on the band.

Footage includes rare live concert footage, television appearances along scenes from the band's film "Catch Us If You Can" plus never before seen footage from Clark's personal archives.

Dave Clark Five was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.
