TV shows filming in Philadelphia benefit tourism efforts (Photos)

It’s becoming almost common place to wander along the streets of Philadelphia and seeing a movie or TV crew at work. I will say it’s a lot more fun when you are walking by them then it is when you are driving and they are redirecting the already clogged streets of the city.

Right now the city skyline is being used as an occasional backdrop and posing as Starling City on the CW’s TV show Arrow. But the biggest production is from NBC’s Do No Harm.

Here the star, Steven Pasquale is playing a dual role as a Philadelphia brain surgeon and also as his evil alter ego. His job is at factious hospital, Independence Memorial Hospital, and posing as the hospital is the School District of Philadelphia headquarters.

As a local it’s fun to see places around town that you can recognize. These production efforts bring in revenue to the city with their crews and actors.

It also benefits our surrounding communities. Do No Harm was filming in the Philadelphia suburb of Hatboro in Upper Moreland. If the show is a success I’m sure they will be visiting other places around the city and our suburbs.

Showing the city on national TV is fun for those who live here, but the biggest benefit is for tourism. Letting viewers see the city can inspire them to want to come here to visit or for vacations. All of this is good for hotels, restaurants and stores in the area.

When you see them filming around the city, be thankful for the revenue they offer and you can support their efforts by watching the shows they are creating.
